Screen Media unveiled the official trailer for The Accursed, a horror film starring Mena Suvari (American Beauty), and Sarah Grey (Power Rangers) who has to look after an elderly woman, played by Meg Foster (They Live), who is demon-possessed. Also starring in the film is Alexis Knapp (Pitch Perfect).

Ethan Hawke and Ewan McGregor star in Raymond & Ray as half brothers who reunite when their estranged father dies, and discover that his final wish was for them to dig his grave. Also starring in the dramedy film are Maribel Verdú, Sophie Okonedo, Maxim Swinton, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Chris Silcox, Chris Grabher, and Oscar Nunez.

IFC Films acquired The Origin of Evil (L’Origine du Mal), the thriller from writer and director Sébastien Marnier (Faultless, School’s Out) starring Laure Calamy (Cesar winner for My Donkey, My Lover & I and star of Call My Agent), Doria Tillier, Dominique Blanc, Jacques Weber, Suzanne Clément, Céleste Brunnquell, and Véronique Ruggia Saura, for release in the US. The Origin of Evil world premiered at the Venice Film Festival, followed by its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last month. IFC Films will release the film in 2023.

Kino Lorber debuted the official trailer Brainwashed: Sex-Camera-Power, a new documentary that explores the sexual politics of cinematic shot design. The documentary is based on director Nina Menkes’ cinematic presentation, ‘Sex and Power, the Visual Language of Cinema’, and uses film clips by A-list directors from 1896 through to the present, to show how sexist shot design contributes to a pervasive environment of sexual harassment and assault, as well as employment discrimination against women, especially in the film industry.
