From virtual reality and mixed reality to video mapping and artificial intelligence, 16 works from 9 countries will be presented in the Immersive Selection, including 9 in the Competition, at the 78th Cannes Film Festival from Tuesday May 13 to 24, 2025. This year’s talented cast includes Fanny Ardant, Daisy Ridley, Zar Amir and Rod Paradot.

The 2025 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, scheduled for June 8–14 in Annecy, France, revealed the 21 feature films in the Official Selection. This year’s edition pays tribute to Hungarian animation, spotlighting both classic and contemporary works.


The documentary It’s All Gonna Break offers an intimate portrayal of the rise of Broken Social Scene, the influential Canadian indie-rock collective. Through rare archival footage and candid interviews, the film captures the band’s evolution from Toronto’s underground music scene to international acclaim.

Filmmaker Maren Ade will preside over the short films and La Cinef Jury of the 78th Cannes Film Festival taking place from May 13 to May 24, 2025. The jury also includes director, screenwriter and producer Reinaldo Marcus Green, actress, singer and songwriter Camélia Jordana, producer, photographer and former Director of the Filmoteca Española José María Prado and director and screenwriter Nebojša Slijepčević.

The political thriller Words of War starring Maxine Peake (The Theory of Everything, The Village), Ciarán Hinds (Belfast, Game of Thrones), and Jason Isaacs (White Lotus, Harry Potter, Death of Stalin) will open in select theaters in the U.S. on May 2, to coincide with World Press Freedom Day on May 3rd, expanding internationally this summer.
