  • “Focused On Excellence” Documentary Chronicles South Korean Athletes And Their Quest To Become The Best

    World renowned sports production and distribution company Jalbert Productions International (www.jalbertfilm.com) today debuted “Focused On Excellence” a special television documentary (click on link to view http://tinyb.it/743C58FE750).  Director Jay Jalbert and his globe trekking team chronicled the pride, focus and determination of eight inspirational and influential South Korean athletes and their quest to become the best.  “Focused on Excellence” subtly and effectively weaves visual and artistic cinematography to tell the story of each athlete’s struggles and triumphs while capturing South Korea’s culture, its people, and their inherent will to win.

    Profiled in the “Focused on Excellence” documentary are South Korean and Manchester United football star Ji Sung Park and South Korea’s next generation of international footballers Chung-Yong Lee, South Korea’s first Major League Baseball player Chan Ho Park (Pittsburgh Pirates), future and fast rising MLB star Shin-Soo Choo (Cleveland Indians), legendary LPGA golf professional Se-Ri Pak, 2009 PGA Championship winner,Y E Yang, 19-year old Olympic figure skater and super star Yu Na Kim and short track turned long track speed skating Olympic gold and silver medalist Seung-Hoon Lee.

  • Award-Winning Documentary – Marwencol – Opens In NYC Oct. 8; In LA Nov. 12

    “Marwenco”, a documentary film by Jeff Malmberg, and winner of the Grand Jury Award at SXSW, Seattle International Film Festival and Cleveland International Film Festival, as well as winner of Best Documentary at Comic-Con and winner of multiple other awards at festivals,  will have its New York theatrical release on Friday, October 8 at the IFC Center.  The film will open in Los Angeles at the Nuart on Friday, November 12.  Other cities will follow.

  • From Sweden – THE GIRL – film opens in NYC Sept 17; in LA Oct. 1

    THE GIRL, a film by Fredrik Edfeldt that premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, and was selected as one of ten films in the Variety Critic’s Choice program at the 2009 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, will will open in New York at Cinema Village on September 17 and in Los Angeles at Laemmle Sunset 5 on October 1.  Other cities will follow.

    In a lonely house on the countryside a ten year old girl takes her first steps from childhood into the world of grown-ups. The girl has to spend her summer with her bohemian aunt when her parents go to Africa to work with an aid project. But the aunt isn’t reliable and when she goes off sailing with a man she has met, the girl decides to take care of herself.

    ‘The Temptation Of St. Tony’, a film by Velko Õunpuu. This film premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and screened at the Rotterdam International Film Festival. ‘The Temptation Of St. Tony’ will open in New York at Cinema Village on September 17, and in Los Angeles at Laemmle Sunset 5 on October 1.  Other cities will follow.

    New Yorker Films’ first theatrical acquisition (since reopening in March 2010) – MY DOG TULIP, will open in Los Angeles on October 22 at the Nuart (the film will open in NYC on September 1 at Film Forum).  MY DOG TULIP is an animated feature film based on the acclaimed best-selling memoir by author J.R. Ackerley, featuring the voices of CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER, the late LYNN REDGRAVE, and ISABELLA ROSSELLINI.    A national release will follow.

    The award winning film,  Letters to Father Jacob, written and directed by Klaus Haro. Finland’s Official Selection for 2010 Academy Awards (Best Foreign Language Film), this film will open in New York at Cinema Village on October 8 and at the Music Hall in Los Angeles on October 15.  Other cities will follow.
