The official poster has been released for the thriller LATE PHASES, directed by Adrian Garcia Bogliano and starring Nick Damici, Ethan Embry, Lance Guest, Erin Cummings, Rutanya Alda, Tina Louise, Caitlin O’Heaney, Karen Lynn Gorney, Dana Ashbrook, and Tom Noonan.  Late Phases will be released theatrically at the IFC Center in New York starting November 21st with select theaters to follow.

IFC Midnight has released the official trailer for Zack Parker’s PROXY , schedule to open theatrically at The IFC Center in NYC and on VOD April 18th, 2014, with nationwide rollout to follow.

Esther (Alexia Rasmussen) feels alone in this world. When she is viciously attacked by a hooded assailant, it almost seems to be a blessing in disguise when Esther finds consolation in a support group, especially from the kindly Melanie (Alexa Havins). The two women strike up a close friendship and Esther’s life of sadness and solitude is opened up to understanding and even acceptance. However, their bond gets increasingly dangerous as they can no longer tell what’s real and what’s in their heads.

The official poster and trailer has been released for sci-fi-horror film AFFLICTED, directed by and co-starring Derek Lee and Clif Prowse.  The film which also stars Baya Rehaz will be released on April 4th, 2014. This terrifying horror thriller follows two best friends who set out on the trip of a lifetime around the world. Their journey, documented every step of the way, soon takes a twisted and unexpected turn after an encounter with a beautiful woman in Paris leaves one of them mysteriously afflicted.

EXISTS, a new horror film from THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT director Eduardo Sánchez has been acquired by Lionsgate for release in the US.  The film premiered at SXSW in Austin, where it played to a sold-out midnight screening. In Bigfoot’s bold return to the big screen, five friends on a camping weekend in the remote woods of East Texas struggle to survive against a legendary predator that is stronger, smarter, and more terrifying than anything they would have ever believed exists.

The British comedy horror ‘CRYING WOLF’ from director Tony Jopia and starring Caroline Munro, Gary Martin, Joe Egan, Kristofer Dayne and Ian Donnelly, has released its official trailer and first look images from the upcoming film. Due for release in the U.K. in 2014, the comedy horror movie, ‘Crying Wolf’ starts its tale in the small village of Deddington where prankster Andy is bitten by a werewolf that kills his friend Charlotte. Andy tries to warn his friends, but winds up turning them into a pack of werewolves. Enter a pair of hapless journalists doomed to a grizzly end, then add a pair of hard boiled vigilantes hot on the heels of the werewolf pack and before you know it, everyone’s ‘Crying Wolf! during a bloody camping holiday in the Cotswolds’

James Byrkit’s feature directorial debut, COHERENCE, which had its world premiere at 2013 Fantastic Fest in Austin, where it won the Next Wave Best Screenplay award, and has since gone on to play the Sitges Film Festival (where it again took home the Best Screenplay prize) and the Philadelphia Film Festival, will continue to play at festivals in the coming months on its way to a traditional theatrical release in 2014 by Oscilloscope Laboratories.

ALICE D, the indie horror film written and directed by Jessica Sonneborn released the official trailer.  Who is Alice D? In the early 1900’s the Davenport House was a famous and successful brothel, until a young prostitute named Alice died there. After her death, the brothel became haunted by young Alice’s ghost, and was eventually abandoned.

IFC Midnight announced from the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival that the company is picking up Zack Parker’s PROXY for release in the US. The film made its world premiere in the Vanguard section of the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival and will play next at the 2013 Fantastic Fest; and stars Alexia Rasmussen, Alexa Havins, Kristina Klebe and Joe Swanberg. In PROXY, a pregnant young woman seeks consolation in a support group after she is viciously attacked by a hooded assailant. Gradually she comes to realize that nothing and no one in her life is as it appears in this shocking and challenging thriller. 

A trailer has been released for the horror film “WE ARE WHAT WE ARE” which had its world premiere earlier this year at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, and opens in theaters on Friday, September 27th at the Landmark Sunshine in NYC. In WE ARE WHAT WE ARE, described as a re-imagining of the 2010 Mexican film of the same name,” director Jim Mickle paints a gripping portrait of an introverted family struggling to keep their macabre traditions alive.

We can probably all recall the first time we ever watched a horror film that truly scared us. There’s something so oddly enjoyable about watching scary movies, and though films in the horror genre are not often critical favorites they have started to turn up more often in a surprising place: film festivals.

Truly, this really isn’t surprising from a business standpoint. First, horror is a genre that has one of the most dedicated fanbases. There aren’t many websites out there solely devoted to Westerns or comedies, but there are hundreds of websites strictly devoted to all things horror.

A trailer has been released for horror film WILLOW CREEK which premiered earlier this year at Boston Independent Film Festival.  Bobcat Goldthwait, known for his “gruff but high-pitched voice” who has also directed WORLD’S GREATEST DAD, 2009; GOD BLESS AMERICA, 2012, wrote and directed the BIg Foot “found-footage” horror film.
