Doppelgänger Releasing Partners with Bloody Disgusting, will Release Black Metal Comedy HEAVY TRIP
Doppelgänger Releasing announced a new distribution relationship with horror genre website Bloody Disgusting, and will kick things off with the release of Finnish black metal comedy Heavy Trip, which had its world premiere at SXSW. Doppelgänger (the genre label of arthouse distributor Music Box Films) is planning a limited theatrical run along with a home entertainment release in late 2018, and will screen the film at the upcoming Cinepocalypse Genre Film Festival at the Music Box Theatre in late June.
When Turo and his undiscovered heavy metal band—eventually named Impaled Rektum—get their first chance in 12 years to leave the basement and play at Norway’s biggest heavy metal music festival, they steal a van, a corpse, a coffin, and a drummer from the local mental hospital and hit the road.
“We’ve admired Bloody Disgusting’s ability to create and grow the most actively engaged online horror communities out there, and we’re looking forward to working with them on identifying and releasing exciting new content that pushes the boundaries of genre filmmaking,” said Lisa Holmes, Director of Sales at Music Box Films/ Doppelgänger Releasing. “Heavy Trip has a perfect combination of humor, heart, and heavy metal, and we’re excited to work with Bloody Disgusting to bring it to American audiences.”

SingularDTV to Release Eddie Alcazar’s Sci-Fi Thriller PERFECT
The sci-fi thriller Perfect, Eddie Alcazar’s feature directorial debut that had its world premiere in the Vision section at the recent SXSW Film Festival has been acquired by the blockchain entertainment studio SingularDTV. SingularDTV will release the film theatrically in the US later this year, with worldwide event-driven screenings to follow. Perfect will become available on SingularDTV’s global digital platform in early 2019.
Alcazar was one of Filmmaker magazine’s 25 New Faces, when he shot and created the short FUCKKKYOUUU, which was selected for Sundance in 2016. Multi-hyphenate Flying Lotus is executive producer on Perfect and composed the score for the film. This marks the second feature collaboration for Alcazar and Flying Lotus from their Brainfeeder Films banner. Flying Lotus’ directorial debut KUSO premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival in the Midnight section.
Alcazar brings his trademark atmospheric intensity to Perfect, with Steven Soderbergh on board as executive producer. In Perfect, a young man with a violent past enters a mysterious clinic where the patients transform themselves using genetic engineering. The film stars Garrett Wareing, Courtney Eaton, and Abbie Cornish.
Other executive producers include Marco Vicini, Phil Hoelting, Matthias Koenigwieser, Rooter Wareing, Nikki Pederson, and Adam Silvestri. XYZ Films and CAA Media Finance negotiated the deal on behalf of filmmakers.

B. Harrison Smith and Gunnar Hansen Team up for Star-Studded Hardcore Horror ‘DEATH HOUSE’ [Trailer]
Horror legends, director B. Harrison Smith (‘Camp Dread’, ‘XK: Elephant’s Graveyard’) and past writer Gunnar Hansen the “Famed Horror Star” for ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’, have teamed up for ‘Death House’, a hardcore horror film that follows two FBI agents, Toria Boon (Courtney Palm) and Jae Novak (Cody Longo), who are constantly plagued by bad luck. When the duo are assigned to work on an exclusive tour within a secret maximum-security prison, they observe that its inmates are organized by the nine levels of the prison, or by the intensity of their evil. Toria and Jac have experienced their fair share of evil, or at least they think, … until an EMP device detonates and sets off the prison’s power, trapping them inside the hell-filled prison, where the violent and evil monsters-like inmates are set free to roam and riot.
The two vulnerable agents frantically make their way through the wicked warren of evil, fighting for their lives. Smith captures the ultimate horror and chaos with the excellent combination of old-school styled gore with action-pack sequences, taking horror-lovers on an unnerving journey through the nine levels of evil within a dark prison full of relentless screams. As each level increases it becomes more dangerous than the last. Will the two agents be at the hands of the savage, barbaric, evil criminals or will they be lucky enough to escape the ‘Death House’ prison alive?
‘Death House’ was awarded the Festival Prize Winner for Audience Choice Award and Best Feature Film at the 2017 Central Florida Film Festival.

Ahead of the Marche du Film in Cannes (May 8th-17th 2018) the first trailer and poster has been released for the UK sci fi horror comedy ‘Canaries’.
‘Canaries’ from Welsh writer/director Peter Stray is about a group of friends at a New Year’s Eve bash in the Welsh Valley, who must fight against an invasion force of time travelling aliens.
The film stars Robert Pugh (Game Of Thrones, Doctor Who, Master & Commander) and Hannah Daniel (Netflix’s Hinterland).
Canaries is first title in the Cannes lineup for Genre sales specialists Devilworks.

The horror film Housewife, directed by Can Evrenol (Baskin), who also co-wrote the film with Cem Özüduru, and starring Clementine Poidatz (Shut-In) and David Sakurai (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), has been acquired by RLJE Films. RLJE Films plans to release the film in the fall of 2018.
In Housewife, young Holly’s sister and father are killed by her frantic mother. Years later, Holly is married, lonely, and her life is soon about take a turn for the ultra-weird, when she visits the leader of the “Umbrella of Love and Mind.”
Housewife had its world premiere at L’Etrange Festival in France and was an official selection at the SITGES International Film Festival, Brooklyn Horror Film Festival and the Vancouver, Portland and Denver International Film Festivals, winning “Best Director” award at Melbourne’s MonsterFest.

New York filmmakers Derek Gibbons and Maxwell Frey released the trailer for PSYCHOTIC!, the suspenseful psychedelic slasher that follows a group of hard-partying Brooklyn hipsters as they’re stalked and savagely murdered by a masked maniac known as the Bushwick Party Killer.

When she reports it, the police question and then attack her. Terrified, with no money, and stuck in L.A., she keeps calling her friends at home, but just gets a ‘wrong number.’ Frantically, she asks Jay to wire her money and come back, but neither he nor the money show. When Katie’s home town newspaper is delivered to her door in L.A., it includes her obituary. And she realizes there is some greater evil at play.

Get Ready!! Gravitas Ventures will Release ATTACK OF THE SOUTHERN FRIED ZOMBIES [TRAILER]

In Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies, the kudzu covered hills of Charleston, Mississippi, notable as Morgan Freeman’s hometown, are ground zero for GloboBioTech testing of their experimental herbicide Quadoxin, which goes horribly wrong. Lonnie, a crop duster pilot, must lead a mismatched group of survivors to escape the deadly zombie horde after the Quadoxin transforms the citizens of the small town into zombies.
