The Substance won 6 awards (of the 7 categories it was nominated for) at the 59th Annual James Loutzenhiser Awards presented by the Kansas City Film Critics Circle (KCFCC) including Best Film, Best Science Fiction/fantasy/horror, Best Director for Coralie Fargeat, Best Actress for Demi Moore in a tie with Mikey Madison – Anora, and Best Supporting Actress for Margaret Qualley.

Anora won 5 awards at the 2024 Austin Film Critics Association Awards, including Best Film, Best Director along with Best Original Screenplay for Sean Baker, Best Actress for Mikey Madison, and Best Supporting Actor for Yura Borisov. Madison was also one of five recipients of this year’s Robert R. “Bobby” McCurdy Memorial Breakthrough Award.

Challengers led the Greater Western New York Film Critics Association’s seventh annual end-of-year Film Awards, with 4 awards including Best Picture, Best Director for Luca Guadagnino, Best Editing, and Best Original Score.
