
The Atlanta Film Critics Circle (AFCC) announced its 7th annual awards winners, naming Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer the Best Film of 2023.

Andrew Haigh’s All of Us Strangers starring Andrew Scott walked away with the award for Best British Independent Film at the 2023 British Independent Film Awards (BIFA). Haigh also won the awards for Best Director and Best Screenplay. Two winners were announced for Best Supporting Performance with Paul Mescal winning one of those awards for his role in the film. In total, All of Us Strangers won 7 awards including the previously announced craft awards Best Cinematography for Jamie D. Ramsay, Best Editing for Jonathan Alberts and Best Music Supervision for Connie Farr.

Carey Mulligan will receive the International Star Award, Actress award at the Palm Springs International Film Awards for her performance in Bradley Cooper’s Maestro. Celine Song’s Past Lives, a drama film following the relationship between two childhood friends over the course of 24 years won Best Feature award at the 33rd Gotham Awards.

Greta Gerwig will receive the Director of the Year Award at the Palm Springs International Film Awards for her critically acclaimed, record-breaking Barbie. The Film Awards will take place on January 4, 2024, at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running through January 15, 2024.

David Vincent Smith’s directorial debut, He Ain’t Heavy, a drama inspired by true events, bagged an impressive four awards out of seven nominations at the 2023 WA Screen Culture Awards (WASCAs). Noteworthy recognitions include Innovation in Narrative Feature Film (budget over $1m), Outstanding Achievements in Cinematography or Visualisation (Lewis Potts), Performance (Sam Corlett), and Production Design (Emma Fletcher).

The 39th IDA Documentary Awards announced this year’s nominees with Against the Tide, ANHELL69, Apolonia, Apolonia, Bobi Wine: The People’s President, Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project, In the Rearview, Milisuthando, Q, The Mother of All Lies and While We Watched nominated for Best Feature Documentary.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph will receive the Breakthrough Performance Award at the Palm Springs International Film Awards for her performance in The Holdovers. The Film Awards will take place on January 4, 2024, at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running through January 15, 2024.

Cillian Murphy will receive the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor, at the Palm Springs International Film Awards for his performance as physicist J.
