The European Film Academy revealed this year’s feature-length documentary films that have been recommended for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2022. The European Film Awards, honoring the greatest achievements in European cinema, will be presented on 10 December 2022 in Reykjavík.
The European Film Academy will honor actress, director and screenwriter Margarethe von Trotta with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her outstanding body of work at this year’s 35th European Film Awards.
The European Film Academy Board has chosen 30 films to be part of the Academy´s Feature Film Selection 2022 for the European Film Awards. The Feature Film Selection includes films that the Board of the Academy recommends to all Academy members for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2022. In a second part, 10-15 further titles for the Feature Film Selection will be announced in September.
The Irish-Language coming-of-age drama The Quiet Girl (An Cailín Ciúin) has been selected as Ireland’s entry for the Oscars® Best International Feature Film category at the upcoming 95th annual Academy Awards.
Michael Koch’s A Piece of Sky (Drii Winter) has been selected by Switzerland to represent the country in the International Feature Film category at the 95th Academy Awards. The film which tells a fictional story with a documentary approach, celebrated its world premiere in the International Competition at Berlin International Film Festival and was honored with a Special Mention by the International Jury.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present Honorary Awards to Euzhan Palcy, Diane Warren and Peter Weir, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Michael J. Fox. The four Oscar® statuettes will be presented at the Academy’s 13th Governors Awards on Saturday, November 19, 2022, in Los Angeles.

The film weaves together interviews with attendees and cultural commentators for context with astonishing footage of festival performances from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Mahalia Jackson, B.B. King, and many more.
