Documentary films 76 Days, All In: The Fight for Democracy, Collective, Crip Camp are among 60 entertainment, news, documentary, arts, children’s/youth, public service and multimedia programming nominated for Peabody Awards.

The American Film Institute (AFI) announced today that Julie Andrews will be presented with the 48th AFI Life Achievement Award, the highest honor for a career in film, at a Gala Tribute on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. The event was originally scheduled for April 25, 2020 but postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Nomadland won best picture at the 93rd Academy Awards, along with best director for China-born Chloe Zhao – making her second woman and the first woman of color to win best director; and best actress went to Frances McDormand. This is the third win for McDormand, previously a winner for Fargo and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Indie films Nomadland, Sound of Metal, Promising Young Woman, Crip Camp, Minari, Palm Springs, Quo Vadis, Aida?, and Residue won awards at the 36th Film Independent Spirit Awards.

Nomadland won four BAFTAs including Best Film, Director for Chloé Zhao, Leading Actress for Frances McDormand, and Cinematography for Joshua James Richards at the 2021 EE British Academy Film Awards, presented over two ceremonies this weekend.

Yuh-Jung Youn along with Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis, and Daniel Kaluuya were honored for performances in motion pictures at the 27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which aired Sunday, April 4, 2021. Yuh-Jung Youn received the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her role as Soonja in “Minari.”

Never Rarely Sometimes Always was the big winner of the Chlotrudis Society for Independent Film 27th annual awards winning 3 Trudies, including two for Eliza Hittman as Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, for its intimate portrayal of two teenaged girls on an out of state journey, faced with a momentous decision.

Nomadland snagged the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures at the virtual Producers Guild of America’s 32nd annual PGA Awards ceremony. Other films receiving awards included My Octopus Teacher for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Pictures; and Soul for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures.
