Julie Andrews AFI Life Achievement Award Gala Tribute Gets New Date
Julie Andrews The American Film Institute (AFI) announced today that Julie Andrews will be presented with the 48th AFI Life Achievement Award, the highest honor for a career in film, at a Gala Tribute on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. The event was originally scheduled for April 25, 2020 but postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

2021 Oscar Winners – ‘Nomadland’ Wins Best Picture, Frances McDormand, Anthony Hopkins Win Best Actor Awards
Frances McDormand wins best actress and Anthony Hopkins wins best actor at 2021 Oscars Nomadland won best picture at the 93rd Academy Awards, along with best director for China-born Chloe Zhao – making her second woman and the first woman of color to win best director; and best actress went to Frances McDormand. This is the third win for McDormand, previously a winner for Fargo and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

DGA Awards 2021 – Nomandland’s Chloé Zhao + The Truffle Hunters’ Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw Win Top Prizes
Chloé Zhao, Nomandland Director Chloé Zhao made history at the Directors Guild of America’s 73rd annual DGA Awards virtual ceremony winning the Outstanding Directorial Achievement In Theatrical Feature Film for Nomadland, becoming the second time the award went to a female director after Kathryn Bigelow’s win in 2008 for The Hurt Locker.

2021 BAFTA Awards – Nomadland Wins Best Film, Best Actress for Frances McDormand, My Octopus Teacher Wins Best Documentary
NOMADLAND Nomadland won four BAFTAs including Best Film, Director for Chloé Zhao, Leading Actress for Frances McDormand, and Cinematography for Joshua James Richards at the 2021 EE British Academy Film Awards, presented over two ceremonies this weekend.

MINARI Wins Best Film at 25th Online Film & Television Association Awards
Minari Minari, Lee Isaac Chung’s film about a family of Korean immigrants who tried to find a better life in rural Arkansas, was named 2020’s best film by the Online Film & Television Association. The film also received honors for Best Supporting Actress (Yuh-jung Youn), Youth Performance (Alan Kim), and Foreign Language Film.

MINARI’s Yuh-Jung Youn Among Winners at 27th Screen Actors Guild Awards
Yuh-Jung Youn in Minari Yuh-Jung Youn along with Chadwick Boseman, Viola Davis, and Daniel Kaluuya were honored for performances in motion pictures at the 27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which aired Sunday, April 4, 2021. Yuh-Jung Youn received the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her role as Soonja in “Minari.”

MY OCTOPUS TEACHER Nomadland snagged the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures at the virtual Producers Guild of America’s 32nd annual PGA Awards ceremony. Other films receiving awards included My Octopus Teacher for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Pictures; and Soul for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures.
