
The San Diego Film Critics Society announced the 2020 winners of their annual awards, naming Promising Young Woman as Best Picture along with Best Actress honors for Carey Mulligan for her performance in the films.

Rose Glass’ dramatic horror Saint Maud leads the nominations for the 41st annual London Critics’ Circle Film Awards with 8 nominations, including Film, Director, Screenwriter, Actress (Morfydd Clark) and Supporting Actress (Jennifer Ehle). In addition, the film is nominated for British/Irish Film of the Year, and Clark is nominated for British/Irish Actress, a body-of-work award that includes her appearance in Eternal Beauty.

The Music City Film Critics’ Association comprised of more than 30 professional film critics working in or near Nashville, Tennessee announced the winners of the MCFCA 2020 Film Awards. Promising Young Woman was the big winner taking two of the top four awards, including Best Picture.

The Sleepwalkers (Los sonámbulos) by acclaimed writer-director Paula Hernández has been selected as Argentina’s candidate in the International Feature Film competition at the 93rd edition of the Academy Awards®.

The North Carolina Film Critics Association (NCFCA) announced the winners of its ninth annual awards for achievements in film. Minari won 4 awards including Best Narrative Film and Nomadland also won 4 awards including Best Director for Chloé Zhao and Best Actress for Frances McDormand. For the third year in a row, the NCFCA voted as Best Narrative Film a film not primarily in English. Parasite won the award in 2019, and Roma won in 2018.
