In response to the COVID-19 global pandemic, which resulted in UK cinemas closing on March 20, British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced temporary changes to its film eligibility rules for the EE British Academy Film Awards for 2021.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the ABC Television Network today announced the 93rd Oscars® ceremony will move to Sunday, April 25, 2021, as a result of the global pandemic caused by COVID-19. The show, which will air live on ABC, was originally scheduled for February 28, 2021.

In light of the increasing concerns surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, AFI announced it is postponing the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala Tribute in celebration of Julie Andrews originally scheduled for April 25. The event is now expected to take place in early summer.

Just Mercy won top film honors at the 51st NAACP Image Awards on Saturday night, receiving the award for Outstanding Motion Picture, along with Best Actor award for Michael B. Jordan and Supporting Actor for Jamie Foxx for their performances in the film. The film also won for Outstanding Ensemble Cast in a Motion Picture
The South Korean film Parasite made history, becoming the first non-English film to win the Oscar for best picture at the 92nd Academy Awards. Parasite also won the award for International Feature Film (previously know as Foreign Film), Writing (Original Screenplay) and Director for Bong Joon Ho.

At tonight’s 2020 (EE British Academy Film) BAFTA Awards, 1917 won seven awards including Best Film, Outstanding British Film, with Sam Mendes receiving the BAFTA for Director.
Bong Joon Ho’s darkcomedy Parasite came out on top at the 40th London Critics’ Circle Film Awards, winning Film of the Year and Director of the Year for Bong. The Souvenir, Joanna Hogg’s bittersweet 1980s memoir was named British/Irish Film of the Year and its 22-year-old leading lady Honor Swinton Byrne received the Young British/Irish Performer award.
The French animated fantasy indie film I Lost My Body (J’ai perdu mon corps) directed by Jérémy Clapin won Best Feature – Independent at the 47th Annual Annie Awards. I Lost My Body which is nominated for a Best Animated Feature Oscar, and is now streaming on Netflix also won the award for Writing in an Animated Feature.
Antonio Banderas won the award for Best Actor (Pain and Glory) at 34th Goya Awards
Pedro Almodovar’s Oscar-nominated Pain and Glory swept the top awards on Saturday at 34th Goya Awards, Spain’s version of the Oscars, winning a total of seven awards including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Antonio Banderas won the award for Best Actor, Julieta Serrano for Best Supporting Actress in addition to awards for Best Editing, and Best Original Music.
