The Favourite directed by Yorgos Lanthimos was the big winner at this year’s 32nd European Film Awards taking the top prize European Film 2019, along with European Comedy 2019, in addition to European Director 2019 for Yorgos Lanthimos, and European Actress 2019 for Olivia Colman. The film also won the technical awards – European Costume Design 2019, European Cinematography 2019, European Editing 2019, and European Hair & Make-Up 2019.
The French historical drama film Portrait of a Lady on Fire by Céline Sciamma is the winner of the European University Film Award 2019. The award will be presented on Friday, December 6, at the European Film Awards Weekend in Berlin.
The New York Film Critics Circle named Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman as the Best Film of 2019 along with Best Supporting Actor honors for Joe Pesci, for his performance in the film. Honeyland was named Best Non-Fiction Film; Best Animated Film went to I Lost My Body, and Parasite continued its winning streak nabbing the Best Foreign Language Film honor.

The nominations were announced today for the 47th Annual Annie Awards™ recognizing the year’s best in the field of animation. Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon in Hollywood tops the nominations list for the 3rd Annual Hollywood Critic Awards (previously known as The Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society) with a total of eleven nominations, while Netflix’s The Irishman and A24’s Waves each earn nine. Lulu Wang’s The Farewell, which premiered at Sundance back in January, scored a total of seven nominations. Todd Phillips’ controversial Joker received quite a bit of love from the members of the HCA with a total of seven nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix. Noah Baumbach’s widely praised Marriage Story received six nominations, including Best Actor for Adam Driver and Best Actress for Scarlett Johansson.
