American Factory, the latest verite documentary feature from Oscar-nominated filmmakers Steven Bognar and Julia Reichert, and Apollo 11, Todd Douglas Miller’s recounting of the US space program through previously undiscovered archival footage, led 2020 Cinema Eye Honors nominations with 5 apiece, including Outstanding Nonfiction Feature.

Academy Award–winner Spike Lee will be honored with the Film at Lincoln Center’s 46th Chaplin Award at the annual Award Gala on Monday, April 27, 2020. The Chaplin Award Gala is the most important fundraising event of the year for Film at Lincoln Center, and all proceeds benefit the organization in its mission to support the art and craft of cinema.

Three-time Golden Globe nominee Ellen DeGeneres will receive the Carol Burnett Award from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA). DeGeneres is the second recipient to be honored with the accolade, the first having been its namesake, Carol Burnett. The Personal History of David Copperfield leads the nominations for the 2019 British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs). Armando Iannucci’s fresh take on Dickens’ novel about the ups and downs in the life of its eponymous character is recognized for Best British Independent Film and Best Screenplay amongst nine other awards. Dev Patel is nominated for Best Actor, with co-stars Tilda Swinton and Hugh Laurie competing in the respective Supporting categories.

The European Film Academy today announced the three films nominated for the award category European Comedy 2019. The films are DITTE & LOUISE directed by Niclas Bendixen, TEL AVIV ON FIRE directed by Sameh Zoabi and THE FAVOURITE directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.

The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) announced the thirty-three films and series receiving nominations for the 29th Annual IFP Gotham Awards along with Gotham Tributes for actors Laura Dern and Sam Rockwell, director Ava DuVernay, and the Gotham Industry Tribute to Glen Basner.

The International Documentary Association (IDA) announced the 35th Annual IDA Documentary Awards Nominees along with the Courage Under Fire Award honoree Waad Al-Kataeb, director and producer of For Sama. For the first time, the IDA will present an award for Best Director and, notably, all of the nominated films have female directors.

Film Independent announced the producers selected for its 19th annual Producing Lab. This intensive program is designed to help creative, independent producers develop their skills and further their careers by introducing Fellows to film professionals who can advise them on both the craft and business of independent producing. Each Producing Lab Fellow will be paired with an experienced Creative Advisor with whom they’ll work to develop their project over the course of the program.
