Oscar-nominated director and screenwriter Mario Monicelli, considered one of the fathers of the Italian comedy of the 1940s-1960s, died Monday after jumping from a fifth-story hospital window, the hospital said. Actor Leslie Nielsen died Sunday of complications from pneumonia, his family said as reported on CNN. Nielsen, 84, died in a hospital near his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, surrounded by his wife and friends.

French director Bertrand Tavernier’s ‘The Princess of Montpensier’ will be the closing film at the 41st International Film festival of India (IFFI) on December 2nd. The film which competed at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival is a French period romance drama and focuses on a young woman who is forced into marriage while in love with another man. The ‘Ghost Writer’, directed by Roman Polanski, will be the mid-fest film.
