The Chicago Film Critics Association awarded Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist the top honor of Best Picture of the year. Nickel Boys, however, received the most honors, with four total wins including Best Director along with Breakthrough Filmmaker Award for RaMell Ross, Best Best Adapted Screenplay for Ross with Joslyn Barnes, and Best Cinematography.

Conclave and Wicked lead the nominees in the film category for the 30th Critics Choice Awards with 11 nominations each.

Denis Villeneuve will receive the Visionary Award for Dune: Part Two at the Palm Springs International Film Awards. The Film Awards will take place on January 3, 2025, at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running January 2-13, 2025.

The film follows a visionary Hungarian-Jewish architect and his family as he moves to America to rebuild his life after escaping post-war Europe.

Selected as Italy’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards, Maura Delpero’s Vermiglio is a period drama set in a remote Italian mountain village in 1944. The film tells the story of a family whose lives are altered by the arrival of a soldier who has deserted the war.

Keke Palmer, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Giancarlo Esposito have been named the recipients of the 7th American Black Film Festival (ABFF) Honors, celebrating, recognizing excellence in the motion picture and television industry.

The 3rd New York edition of Dances With Films (DWF) wrapped with its awards ceremony, where Kristen Hansen’s Sonny Boy received the Audience Choice Award for Best Narrative Feature and Mikaela Shwer’s The Kids Are Not Alright won for Best Documentary Feature.

Anora was named best picture of the year by the Michigan Movie Critics Guild, and Mikey Madison won the best actress award along with the award for breakthrough performance. The film also received the best screenplay award.

Sing Sing was named Best Picture of the year by the San Diego Film Critics Society, along with Best Actor for Colman Domingo, and Best Adapted Screenplay for Craig Bentley, Greg Kwedar.

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced the 2025 Documentary Motion Picture nominees for the 36th Annual Producers Guild Awards.
