In a modern day tale of ‘Beauty and The Beast,’ Caroline Lindy’s feature film directorial debut ‘Your Monster’ tells a charming story of an actor who finds a connection with an unlikely monster who suddenly appears in her life after a break-up. The film stars Melissa Barreara and Tommy Dewey in its two leading role.

World premiering at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, ‘Takin’ Care of Business’ is a documentary on Canadian rock legend Randy Bachman as he tells the story of his rise to prominence and his search for his special old guitar that got stolen. The documentary is directed by award-winning director Tyler Measom (An Honest Liar, Murder Among the Mormons).

Quentin Dupieux’s (Rubber, Deerskin) bizzare comedy ‘Daaaaaalí’ tells the story of a journalist’s struggle to interview renowned Spanish artist Salvador Dalí. The surrealist comedy world premiered at the 80th edition of Venice Film Festival in 2023, and went on to screen at other film festivals including the 2023 BFI London Film Festival and the 2024 Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival where it won the critics award.

Mike Flanagan’s The Life of Chuck wins the People’s Choice Award at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival which officially wrapped today with its annual awards. The People’s Choice Documentary Award went to The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal directed by Mike Downie; and the People’s Choice Midnight Madness Award went to The Substance, directed by Coralie Fargeat.

The film features narration for the artifacts, as they tell their stories of being taken and returned.

Making their second feature film, writer-director duo Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy (Blow the Man Down) helm House of Spoils , the genre-bending thriller film starring Oscar-winning actress Ariana DeBose as Chef haunted by a supernatural presence in her new restaurant.

Good Girl Jane, the debut feature film from director Sarah Elizabeth Mintz, stars Rain Spencer (The Summer I Turned Pretty) in the coming-of-age story based on Mintz’s life as a teenager.

From Dawn Porter, the acclaimed director of ‘John Lewis: Good Trouble,’ the documentary ‘Luther: Never Too Much‘ chronicles the life and career of the late R&B icon Luther Vandross. Featured in the film are fellow singers Mariah Carey and Dionne Warwick alongside archival footage of Vandross telling his own personal life story.

The World Premiere of Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2 will close the 38th edition of AFI Fest at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre on October 27. The film stars Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, J.K. Simmons, Chris Messina, Gabriel Basso, Zoey Deutch, Cedric Yarbrough, Leslie Bibb and Kiefer Sutherland.

The 47th Mill Valley Film Festival (MVFF) taking place October 3–13, 2024 revealed this year’s lineup featuring 129 films from 40 countries, including 77 premieres, with 51% of the films directed or co-directed by women or non-binary filmmakers..
