‘Love & Basketball’, ’12 Years a Slave’, ‘The Wedding Banquet’ Among 25 Titles Added to National Film Registry
Love & Basketball Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden announced the twenty-five films been selected for the 2023 Library of Congress National Film Registry. This year’s selections date back more than 100 years to a 1921 Kodak educational film titled “A Movie Trip Through Filmland” , to 2000’s Black love story “Love & Basketball,” to 2013’s Oscar-winning “12 Years a Slave” and the Oscar-winning documentary “20 Feet from Stardom.”

Barbie Leads Nominations for 29th Critics Choice Awards
Margot Robbie in Barbie (Warner Bros. Pictures) Barbie leads the film nominations for the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards earning 18 nominations including Best Picture and Best Comedy. The film received several acting nominations including Best Actress for Margot Robbie, Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling and Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera. Ariana Greenblatt is also up for Best Young Actor/Actress, and the cast garnered a Best Acting Ensemble nomination. Greta Gerwig earned a nod for Best Director and both Gerwig and Noah Baumbach are contenders for Best Original Screenplay.
