50 years after it began filming, the rerelease of The Mother and the Whore’s will World Premiere as the opening film of Cannes Classics 2022 at the 75th Cannes Film Festival on May the 17th, in the presence of François Lebrun, Jean-Pierre Léaud and Boris Eustache. Winner of the Grand Prix du Jury presided by actress Ingrid Bergmann in 1973 and winner of the Prix de la Critique, this movie caused riots at the time. Rarely seen, The Mother and the Whore will once again grace French theaters June 8th, before the rerelease of Jean Eustache’s entire body of work, slated in 2023.

French actor Vincent Lindon will be the President of the Jury of the 75th Cannes Film Festival. Together with eight jury members, the actor who won Best Actor in 2015 will present the Palme d’Or to one of the 21 films in competition.

Directed by Dan Mirvish (“Between Us,” “Bernard and Huey” and a Slamdance Film Festival Co-founder), the award-winning thriller/comedy feature film “18½” will be released in cinemas in over 50 markets across North America on May 27th, beginning with Laemmle theaters in Los Angeles and expanding coast-to-coast on June 3rd, with the filmmakers in attendance for Q&A’s in all key markets.

The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival (BHFF) in New York City announced the winners of the Golden Apple Awards for its 18th annual event! The festival awarded the main prize BHFF Golden Apple Audience Award for Best Picture to Igor Drljača’s The White Fortress. In his speech, Drljača thanked the audience and the festival for recognizing his unique cinematic vision.

Described as the “slyly meta-cinematic experiment,” The Tsugua Diaries (Diários de Otsoga) by Portuguese director Miguel Gomes (Arabian Nights) and his partner and collaborator Maureen Fazendeiro is set to open on Friday, May 27 at Film at Lincoln Center in New York City before moving onto other cinemas nationwide via distributor KimStim. Starring in the film are Crista Alfaiate, Carloto Cotta, and João Nunes Monteiro.
