Sony Classics released the official trailer for the award-winning drama Jockey starring Clifton Collins Jr. as an aging jockey attempting to win one last title while young rookie guns for his crown. Jockey premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival, where Clifton Collins Jr. won a Special Jury Award for Acting. Also starring in the film are Molly Parker, Moises Arias, Logan Cormier, and Colleen Hartnett.
Jennifer Hudson will receive the Chairman’s Award for her performance in Respect at the Palm Springs International Film Awards. The Film Awards will take place in-person on January 6, 2022 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running through January 17, 2022.

Unfolding in cinéma vérité style and with unfettered access, the film bears witness to a man searching for reinvention and redemption, striving to stay true to himself while reestablishing his roles as a father, an artist, and an icon.
Mehdi M. Barsaoui’s family drama A Son” (Un Fils) starring Sami Bouajila opens in the US on Friday, December 10 at Film Forum in New York and Facets Multimedia in Chicago. The film will open in LA at the Laemmle Theaters on Dec. 17.

IFC Films released the official trailer for The Novice, the award-winning indie thriller that premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival and won three prizes including Best U.S. Narrative Feature Film, Best Cinematography, and Best Actress for Isabelle Fuhrman. Also starring in The Novice are Amy Forsyth, Dilone, Jonathan Cherry, Kate Drummond, Charlotte Ubben, Sage Irvine, Chantelle Bishop, Jeni Ross, and Nikki Duval.
Academy Award-winning actress, director, and producer Halle Berry will receive “The People’s Icon” award at the 2021 “People’s Choice Awards.” Grammy Award-winning artist Cardi B will present the award to Berry at the ceremony. The PCA Award-winner and seven-time nominee will be honored for her contributions in TV and film, including her directorial debut in the highly-anticipated film “Bruised,” which will be in select theatres on November 17 and arrives on Netflix on November 24. Cardi B and Berry teamed up to executive produce the film’s soundtrack, which features six original songs by award-winning and multi-platinum female artists, including a song by Cardi B. The 2021 “People’s Choice Awards” will air simultaneously on both NBC and E! on Tuesday, December 7 at 9pm ET/PT from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA.
