The 4K Restoration of Dennis Hopper’s Out of the Blue (timed to its 40th Anniversary) will expand into theaters in January 2022 to cities including Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver, Chicago, Seattle, Atlanta, New Orleans, Nashville and more (updated list below).

Ferroequinology, literally meaning the study of iron horses, is a feature-length documentary with luminous black and white cinematography, directed by Alex Nevill about the passion and artistry of railroad photography. Having made its World Premiere at Chichester Film Festival (UK) in August 2021, Ferroequinology comes Stateside for its North American Premiere at 2022 Slamdance Film Festival. The film will screen virtually from January 27-Feburary 6, 2022.

Film at Lincoln Center will present The Films of Márta Mészáros, a retrospective of the feminist screenwriter and director’s filmography, January 21-26, 2022.
Following Sundance Film Festival’s announcement, Slamdance Film Festival 2022 is also responding to increasing concerns around the Omicron variant by canceling the in-person portion of the upcoming festival and moving completely virtual. The festival will now start a week later on January 27 and run through February 6, 2022.

The fifth anniversary of Animation First, the only film festival in the US dedicated to shining a light on the enduring ingenuity of French animation and its diverse representation of international artists, studios and schools returns to French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) in person with an exciting lineup of programs from Friday, February 11 to Sunday, February 13. For the first time, the festival will also continue online with exclusive content from Monday, February 14 to Monday, February 21.
Sundance Film Festival updated it COVID-19 health safety protocols as result of increasing concerns surrounding the omicron variant which is now confirmed in all 50 states roughly three weeks after it was first detected in the U.S. The festival is now requiring boosters for all in-person attendees and theaters will operate at reduced capacity with no eating or drinking permitted in theaters
