
From September 21-26, 2021, the 42nd Aspen Filmfest will showcase top filmmaking from across the globe including films featuring Jessica Chastain, Jake Gyllenhaal, Benedict Cumberbatch, Claire Foy and more.

Italian director and screenwriter Paolo Sorrentino will give a masterclass and present his latest film The Hand of God at the 69th edition of the San Sebastian Festival. The author of The Great Beauty (La grande bellezza ) will talk about his latest film and its connections with the seventh art.

Academy Award-Winning writer and director Oliver Stone will receive the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival (SFiFF) Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival’s upcoming 13th edition. The Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony will be followed by a screening of an Oliver Stone film.

Each year, the Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) presents honorary awards to celebrated filmmaker, director and screenwriter Paul Schrader will receive this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his life’s work. Paul Schrader will accept the award in person on Friday, October 1 before presenting his new film The Card Counter, which he wrote and directed; and give insights into his career at a ZFF Masters.

Directed by Mobolaji Olambiwonnu the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival audience award winner Ferguson Rises goes deep into the aftermath and protests following the killing of unarmed Black teen Michael Brown Jr. by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. The documentary produced by David Oyelewo and Jessica Oyelowo, opens September 17th at the Laemmle Monica Film Center.

Ahead of the release in theaters starting September 10, the official trailer dropped for Fire Music, filmmaker Tom Surgal’s documentary tribute to the Free Jazz Movement.

Bianca Stigter’s ” Three Minutes – A Lengthening” narrated by Helena Bonham Carter is described as a haunting documentary essay that expands upon film’s place in history. Co-produced by Steve McQueen, the documentary world premieres at the 2021 Venice International Film Festival on September 4 and will receive its Canadian premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival in mid-September.

The world premiere of The Legacy of elBulli (Las huellas de elBulli), a film about the restaurant run by Ferran Adrià, will open the Culinary Zinema section of the 69th San Sebastian International Film Festival. The section will close with Délicieux / Delicious, a period fiction situated amidst kitchen stoves. The food themed films showcased in the Culinary Zinema section will be accompanied by themed dinners.

Belfast is described as “the humorous, tender and intensely personal story of one boy’s childhood during the tumult of the late 1960s.”

Following the world premiere at the 2021 Telluride Film Festival this weekend, National Geographic Documentary Films and Greenwich Entertainment will release The Rescue, the latest film from award-winning directing duo E. Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin exclusively in theaters on October 8, 2021.
