The Latino Entertainment Journalists Association (LEJA) announced the film nominees for the third annual Latino Entertainment Film Awards.

Actor David Oyelowo (Selma, The Butler), producer Christine Vachon and filmmaker Bruno Santamaria will be honored during this year’s hybrid “Double Feature” edition of Ashland Independent Film Festival running online for two weeks from April 15-29 and outdoors in Ashland and Medford from June 24-28, 2021.

Following the world premiere at DOC NYC, the documentary Chasing Childhood will screen at upcoming film festivals across the country in March and April, including Portland International Film Festival (March 5-14) and Sonoma International Film Festival (March 24-28).

“Drive All Night,” a new feature film starring Yutaka Takeuchi (Marvel’s ‘The Defenders’) will make its World Premiere in competition at the Cinequest Film Festival, running March 20-30, 2021.

HBO will premiere The Day Sports Stood Still, a feature-length documentary that tells the story of the unprecedented sports shutdown in March of 2020 and the remarkable turn of events that followed. Emmy®-winning director Antoine Fuqua (HBO’s “What’s My Name | Muhammad Ali”) will chronicle the abrupt stoppage, athletes’ prominent role in the cultural reckoning on racial injustices that escalated during the pandemic and the complex return to competition in the summer and fall. The film debuts Wednesday, March 24 (9:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT) on HBO.

Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, will release the horror-thriller film “Held”, from directors Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff (The Gallows) in theaters and on demand April 9, 2021.

IFC Films acquired the The Nowhere Inn, produced, written by, and starring Carrie Brownstein and Annie ‘St. Vincent’ Clark from first-time filmmaker and frequent Portlandia collaborator / writer Bill Benz. The film marks the first feature length film in which Clark has simultaneously produced, starred and composed all the original music.

IFC Films acquired Petra Epperlein and Michael Tucker’s documentary The Meaning of Hitler, a thought-provoking exploration of the lasting cultural fascination with the Nazi dictator and its resonance on present day politics. IFC Films will release the film later this year.
