Busan International Film Festival today decided to postpone this year’s festival by 2 weeks and to downsize significantly. The 25th Busan International Film Festival, previously planned to be held from October 7th to October 16th, will now take place from October 21st to October 30th.
The 2020 Louisiana Film Prize announced the 20 finalists who will compete for a $25,000 grand prize (the world’s largest cash prize for a narrative short film). The 9th edition of the award-winning Louisiana Film Prize will be take place virtually this year with viewing and voting online open, for the first time ever, to an international audience. The grand prize winner will be determined, as in past years, via a rare combination of voting from audience members and judges comprised of film and industry veterans, tastemakers, and celebrities.

Vancouver International Film Festival 2020 (VIFF) announced the complete programming lineup for the Contemporary World Cinema and True North film series for its 39th edition taking place September 24–October 7, 2020. Contemporary World Cinema features narrative films from around the globe, showcasing works from both new and established filmmakers. True North celebrates the craft and creativity of Canadian storytellers and includes the opening film and world premiere of Monkey Beach by Loretta Sarah Todd.

For the first time ever, this year’s 21st edition of the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival set to take place entirely online, from October 20 – 25, 2020, will open with a shorts film program. Throughout the Festival four short programs will be screened, each named after one of the four colors in the medicine wheel. For the Opening Gala on Tuesday, October 20, imagineNATIVE begins in the YELLOW quadrant and will feature a gathering of international short films, standing together. The feature music documentary Fandango at the Wall, directed by Varda Bar-Kar and Executive produced by Quincy Jones, Andrew Young, and Carlos Santana will premiere on HBO Latino, Friday, September 25. The film follows Multi-GRAMMY Award-winning musician Arturo O’Farrill and Multi-GRAMMY Award-winning producer Kabir Sehgal who journey to Veracruz, Mexico to recruit master musicians for a live album recording at the U.S.-Mexico border wall.
