The Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) will present Jamie Foxx with the Spotlight Award, Actor for his role in Just Mercy at its annual Film Awards Gala. The 31st annual Palm Springs International Film Festival runs January 2-13, 2020.

IFC Films released the official US trailer for The Truth (La vérité) the latest film from Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda (Shoplifters) that world premiered at the 2019 Venice Film Festival. The film starring Catherine Deneuve, Juliette Binoche, Ethan Hawke, Ludivine Sagnier, and Roger Van Hool, will open in select US theaters on March 20th, 2020

The Utah Film Critics awarded South Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite the top honor of Best Picture of 2019. The film was also recognized as Best Non-English Language Film, and for the Original Screenplay by Bong and Jin Won Han.

Film Movement released the official trailer for the polish film Corpus Christi (Boże Ciało) directed by Jan Komasa that has been shortlisted in consideration for an Oscar in the International Feature Film category at the 92nd Academy Awards. The film starring Bartosz Bielenia, Aleksandra Konieczna, Eliza Rycembel, Leszek Lichota, Łukasz Simlat, Tomasz Zietek, and Barbara Kurzaj will be released in theaters on February 19, 2020.

The Florida Film Critics Circle awarded the French language period piece Portrait of a Lady on Fire its Best Picture prize. Portrait of a Lady on Fire tied with Marriage Story for the most wins but received some of the highest honors including Best Director for director Céline Sciamma, and Best Foreign Language film.
