35th IDA Documentary Awards Nominees Announced, FOR SAMA, LEAVING NEVERLAND and More
FOR SAMA. The International Documentary Association (IDA) announced the 35th Annual IDA Documentary Awards Nominees along with the Courage Under Fire Award honoree Waad Al-Kataeb, director and producer of For Sama. For the first time, the IDA will present an award for Best Director and, notably, all of the nominated films have female directors.

Fernando Meirelles’ The Two Popes starring Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Pryce The Audience Award for Best Narrative Film at the Middleburg Film Festival went to THE TWO POPES from director Fernando Meirelles and screenwriter Anthony McCarten, who also received the Festival’s Distinguished Screenwriter Award. The award for Best Documentary Film went to WILLIE about NHL legend, Willie O’Ree, who attended the festival with director Laurence Mathieu-Leger.

Heartland Intl Film Festival 2019 Award Winners – HOUSE OF HUMMINGBIRD and FOR SAMA Win Top Prizes
House of Hummingbird (Beol-sae) (South Korea, USA) directed and written by Bora Kim. Bora Kim’s HOUSE OF HUMMINGBIRD took home the Grand Prize for Best Narrative Feature (and a cash prize of $15,000) at the 28th Heartland International Film Festival.
