San Francisco IndieFest’s social justice-focused touring film festival Resistance of Vision unveiled the film lineup for the debut screenings in Boston, Wichita, Birmingham (which also includes a virtual component), and San Francisco next month (May 1-3, 31).
The documentary It’s All Gonna Break offers an intimate portrayal of the rise of Broken Social Scene, the influential Canadian indie-rock collective. Through rare archival footage and candid interviews, the film captures the band’s evolution from Toronto’s underground music scene to international acclaim.
Filmmaker Maren Ade will preside over the short films and La Cinef Jury of the 78th Cannes Film Festival taking place from May 13 to May 24, 2025. The jury also includes director, screenwriter and producer Reinaldo Marcus Green, actress, singer and songwriter Camélia Jordana, producer, photographer and former Director of the Filmoteca Española José María Prado and director and screenwriter Nebojša Slijepčević.
The political thriller Words of War starring Maxine Peake (The Theory of Everything, The Village), Ciarán Hinds (Belfast, Game of Thrones), and Jason Isaacs (White Lotus, Harry Potter, Death of Stalin) will open in select theaters in the U.S. on May 2, to coincide with World Press Freedom Day on May 3rd, expanding internationally this summer.
The 2025 Tribeca Festival unveiled its audio storytelling lineup, featuring a dynamic mix of live episodes, immersive audio experiences, and world premieres. Most of the audio events will take place between June 10–14 in New York City.

Paul Reubens, the man behind the iconic character Pee-wee Herman, gets personal and tells his life story, all in his owns words, in the two-part documentary Pee-Wee as Himself. In the documentary, Reubens comes out posthumously as gay in the interviews taped before his death in 2023.
