The Atlanta Film Critics Circle chose Sean Baker’s Anora as its top film of 2024 along with Best Original Screenplay, and Best Lead Actress plus Best Breakthrough Performer awards for Mikey Madison.

The Boston Society of Film Critics (BSFC) announced its winners for the 45th annual awards for achievements in film, honoring Anora with Best Film honors, along with Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for Sean Baker, Best Actress for Mikey Madison.

Wicked won Best Feature and The Brutalist nabbed Best Director for Brady Corbet, at the 2024 Washington DC Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA).

Sean Baker’s Anora nabbed Best Picture at the 50th Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) Awards, along with Best Lead Performance for Mikey Madison in a tie with Marianne Jean-Baptiste for Hard Truths; and Best Supporting Performance Yura Borisov also in tie with Kieran Culkin for A Real Pain.

Kneecap, Rich Peppiat’s comedy following the west Belfast hip-hop trio won the award for Best British Independent Film at the 2024 British Independent Film Awards (BIFA). The film won seven BIFAs in total, including Best Debut Screenwriter for Peppiatt and Best Joint Lead for trio Liam Óg Ó Hannaidh, Naoise Ó Cairealláin and JJ Ó Dochartaigh along with the four craft awards.

Emilia Pérez dominated at the 37th European Film Awards winning the top prize of best European Film, along with Director and Screenwriter honors for Jacques Audiard, Actress award for Karla Sofía Gascón, along with Editing award for Juliette Welfling.

The Michigan Movie Critics Guild unveiled its nominees for the best films and performances of 2024 lead by Anora, The Brutalist and Wicked, all tied for the most nominations, with six each. All 3 films received nominations for best picture, acting and directing.

The Seattle Film Critics Society unveiled nominations for the 2024 SFCS Awards, honoring the year’s best in film.

Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light took the top spot on Sight and Sound, the BFI’s international film magazine, Best Films of the Year poll 2024.

Originally making its world-premiere at the 2021 Locarno Film Festival, Aurélie Saada’s debut feature film Rose won the festival’s Variety Piazza Grande Award. The film follows an elderly widow as she tries to discover herself after her husband’s death with the help of her children.

Better Man, the Robbie Williams-inspired biopic drama received a record-breaking 16 nominations in the film categories for Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) 2025 AACTA Awards.
