
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced feature films eligible for consideration in the Animated Feature Film, Documentary Feature Film and International Feature Film categories for the 96th Academy Awards®.

Andrew H. Brown and Moses Thuranira’s Between The Rains won the jury prize for Best Feature, and Tatiana Huezo’s The Echo won the Critics Prize at 32nd edition of Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival. The Audience Awards were led by Sharon “Rocky” Roggio’s 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture, taking Best Feature.

NewFest, home to the celebrated LGBTQ+ film festival, announced the full lineup for their third annual NewFest Pride Summer Film Series. The event kicks off LGBTQ+ Pride Month from June 1 – 5, 2023 in New York, and will feature a mix of exclusive in-person premieres/panels, virtual screenings, and social events.

A documentary on the origins of the anti-gay movement, 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture directed by Sharon “Rocky” Roggio won the Audience Choice Award for Best Film at the 47th Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF47) which took place March 22nd – April 1st, 2023. The documentary follows the story of tireless researchers who trace the origins of the anti-gay movement among Christians to a grave mistranslation of the Bible in 1946.
