The Critics Association of Central Florida announced the winners of its first annual awards and named Joel Coen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth starring Denzel Washington along with Frances McDormand as the Best picture of 2021. Other films honored included Flee won for Best Documentary; A Hero won for Best International Film and King Richard won for Best Central Florida Film.

The North Carolina Film Critics Association announced the winners for the tenth annual awards for achievements in film with The Power of the Dog leading the pack with six awards, including narrative film, director, actor, supporting actor, adapted screenplay, and cinematography.

The Power of the Dog took Best Picture honors along with three other awards, leading a wide-ranging list of winners for the 2021 Utah Film Critics Association awards. The film was also recognized for Best Achievement in Directing by Jane Campion, Best Male Supporting Performance for Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Best Score for Jonny Greenwood.

The National Board of Review announced their 2021 honorees, with top awards including Licorice Pizza for Best Film; Paul Thomas Anderson for Best Director for Licorice Pizza; Will Smith for Best Actor for King Richard; and Rachel Zegler for Best Actress for West Side Story.

The 24th annual SCAD Savannah Film Festival returns in-person and virtually from October 23–30, 2021 with 157 films, including 45 narrative feature films, 15 documentary feature films and 97 shorts – with 63 of these films directed by women.

Montclair Film Festival announced the program lineup for the 10th edition of the festival running October 21-30, 2021, along with Maggie Gyllenhaal’s debut The Lost Daughter. Maggie Gyllenhaal will receive the festival’s Breakthrough Director & Writer Award for her work on the film and join Stephen Colbert in Conversation as part of the festival’s Storyteller Series.

Mill Valley Film Festival announced the lineup of 118 films – 65 features and 53 shorts, for the 44th edition of the festival headlined by Joe Wright’s Cyrano as opening night film, Mike Mills’ C’mon C’mon, starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Centerpiece film and Wes Anderson’s star-studded The French Dispatch as closing night film.

Eight of the most anticipated international auteur films will be presented in Zurich Film Festival’s “Gala Premieres” section including the world premiere of It’s Just a Phase, Honey (Es ist nur eine Phase, Hase) by Florian Gallenberger and Chasing the Line/Klammer by Andreas Schmied, as well as The French Dispatch by Wes Anderson.
