The Edward Berger drama Conclave alongside other acclaimed titles Sam Yates’ feature debut, Magpie, Steve McQueens’ WWII drama Blitz, A Real Pain directed by Jesse Eisenberg, Ash Avildsen directed Queen of the Ring, and Nickel Boys directed by RaMell Ross, are the finalists for the Best Feature Film Award at the 15th Twin Cities Film Festival (TCFF).

Slamdance has unveiled The Indie Awards, a new annual award show dedicated to celebrating independent filmmaking. The inaugural ceremony will take place on December 9, 2024, at the Directors Guild of America Theater in Los Angeles, hosted by comedians and actors Nic Novicki (Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos) and Steve Way (Ramy).

Atikamekw Suns by Chloé Leriche won the coveted Grand Chameleon and the Best Narrative Feature awards at the 27th edition of the Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF) which wrapped up on Sunday, June 9th. Impossible Town by Meg Griffiths and Scott Faris took home the award for Best Documentary Feature.

Brooklyn Film Festival (BFF) announced the film lineup of 12 narrative features and 10 documentary features, for its 27th edition, Immersion. The 2024 edition will also present 40 narrative shorts, 24 documentary shorts, 28 animations, and 24 experimental films. Furthermore, 20 films will be shown, online only, as part of kidsfilmfest, now in its 20th year.

The 2024 Bentonville Film Festival, set for June 10-16 in Bentonville, Arkansas, unveiled the competition program of narrative, documentary, short film, and episodic selections premiering in-person.

The 50th Seattle International Film Festival will showcase a lineup of 261 films representing 84 countries/regions, including 92 features, 47 documentaries, five archival features, two special tributes, two secret screenings, and 115 short films. The festival takes place held May 9–19, 2024 at venues across Seattle and followed by a week of select virtual screenings on the SIFF Channel May 20–27.

Hollywoodgate by Egyptian filmmaker Ibrahim Nash’at took the Grand Jury Award at the 2024 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival. With an interpreter by his side Nash’at documents a Taliban group taking control of a former CIA base nicknamed “Hollywoodgate” just days after the U.S. Army’s controversial withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.

Full Frame Documentary Film Festival announced the lineup of 50 titles including 35 features and 15 short films from 22 countries, for the the 26th edition of the festival taking place April 4–7, 2024 in historic downtown Durham, N.C.
