    The 2022 Asian Film Festival of Dallas (AFFD) announced the lineup of 16 feature films (12 Narrative, 4 Documentary), and 11 short films for the 21st edition of the film festival taking place July 21-24, 2022. Opening Night selection is Wenxiong Xing’s Too Cool to Kill, the Closing Night selection is Roshan Sethi’s 7 Days, Spotlight screenings include Park Hoon-Jung’s The Witch 2: The Other One, and Shô Miyake’s Small, Slow but Steady.

Jessica Kingdon’s Ascension won three awards, the most of the evening, for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography, Original Score and Debut Feature. Both films have been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.

Last year, producer Craig Foster was honored with the award for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Picture for “My Octopus Teacher,” which documented a year spent by Foster forging a relationship with a wild common octopus in a South African kelp forest.

The Festival’s 20th anniversary edition will run June 9-20 with live in-person events at outdoor venues across all New York City boroughs.
