Presented by the National Film Preserve each year over the Labor Day Weekend, the 52nd Telluride Film Festival unveiled its official program selections of over sixty feature films, short films, and revival programs.
Netflix debuted the official teaser trailer for Ballad of a Small Player, a sleek new psychological thriller film from Edward Berger, the Oscar-winning director of All Quiet on the Western Front. The film stars Colin Farrell as Lord Doyle, a high-stakes gambler hiding out in the neon-soaked casinos of Macau. He’s joined by Fala Chen, Deanie Ip, Alex Jennings, and Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton, who plays the relentless private investigator Cynthia Blithe.

The latest films from Edward Berger, Claire Denis, Dolores Fonzi, Joachim Lafosse, Olmo Omerzu, Xiaoyu Qin and James Vanderbilt will compete for the Golden Shell at the 73rd San Sebastian International Film Festival. The festival will showcase the debut film from actress Juliette Binoche as a director and the latest work from Junji Sakamoto as Special Screenings out of competition.

The 50th Toronto International Film Festival taking place September 4–14, 2025, unveiled the lineup of Official Selections in its Gala and Special Presentations program including films from Steven Soderbergh, Guillermo del Toro, Mamoru Hosoda, Zacharias Kunuk, Baz Luhrmann, Kleber Mendonça Filho, Jafar Panahi, Benny Safdie, and Gus Van Sant.
