Earlier this month, the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) announced MIFF 68 1⁄2 – a reimagined celebration of film online, following the cancellation of MIFF 2020. The fully-curated program will showcase over 100 films including 12 world premieres, Australian premieres, shorts, Q&As, special events, and more. MIFF 68 1⁄2 will be available to stream in Australia August 6-23.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire (France) by director Céline Sciamma, hailed by the jury as a portrayal of the all-consuming nature of love and the beauty of women’s solidarity, took home the top prize in the International Feature Film Competition at the 55th Chicago International Film Festival.

Makoto Shinkai’s hugely successful WEATHERING WITH YOU will open the third ‘Animation Is Film’ Festival taking place October 18 to 20 at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Closing the festival will be France’s I LOST MY BODY from director Jeremy Clapin.

The 34th Venice International Film Critics’ Week (SIC) which runs August 28th to September 7th, 2019, is an independent and parallel section organized by the National Union of Italian Film Critics (SNCCI) during the 76th Venice International Film Festival. The program includes a selection of seven debut films in competition and two special events out of competition, all presented in world premiere screenings.

Gitanjali Rao’s animated feature film, Bombay Rose will have its World Premiere as the opening film of Critics Week at the Venice International Film Festival on August 29th, 2019.
