
Tae-Jim Ahn’s The Night Owl will open this year’s 22nd edition of the Asian Film Festival of Dallas (AFFD) taking place July 13-16, 2023.

The multi award-winning series POV returns for its 36th season with a slate of 16 feature documentaries with themes devoted to caregiving, transnationalism, activism, childhood aspirations, accessibility, and intergenerational relationships.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the feature films eligible for consideration in the Animated Feature Film, Documentary Feature Film and International Feature Film categories for the 95th Academy Awards.

Qiu Jiongjiong’s A New Old Play from China – a fascinating tale of a family of Sichuan Opera artists living through a tumultuous era – has been named Best Film for the Young Cinema Competition (Chinese Language) at the 46th Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF46). Besides winning the Firebird Award, A New Old Play was also the pick of the FIPRESCI Prize jury, who commended the film for “its masterful approach and inventive visual style.”

The 65th annual San Francisco International Film Festival will make its return to theaters in person, featuring more than 130 films from 56 countries, including 16 World and 10 North American premieres. The Festival will also celebrate cinematic icon Michelle Yeoh with a special tribute to be presented by critically acclaimed actor Sandra Oh. The 2022 Festival will run April 21–May 1.

Film at Lincoln Center and The Museum of Modern Art announced the lineup for 51st edition of New Directors/New Films (ND/NF) taking place April 20–May 1, 2022. This year’s festival will introduce 26 features and 11 shorts, a total of 39 directors, 21 of which are women, to filmgoers in theaters at both FLC and MoMA.
