Phoenix Critics Circle awarded The Banshees of Inisherin, the top honor of Best Picture of 2022 along with Best Screenplay for Martin Mcdonagh.

David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future, Jerzy Skolimowski’s EO, and Charlotte Wells’s Aftersun took the top spots among films released in 2022 on Film Comment’s annual end-of-year survey. Of the films that screened at festivals worldwide but have not announced stateside distribution, David Easteal’s The Plains, Bertrand Bonello’s Coma, and Laura Citarella’s Trenque Lauquen received the top rankings.

The Chicago Film Critics Association announced the 2022 award winners and awarded the top honor of Best Picture of the year to The Banshees of Inisherin, directed by Martin McDonagh. The film also earned awards for Best Actor for Colin Farrell, Best Supporting Actress for Kerry Condon and Best Original Screenplay for Martin McDonagh.

Return to Seoul directed by Davy Chou was named Best Film of 2022 by the Boston Society of Film Critics. The Banshees of Inisherin lead the nominations for the 80th Golden Globe Awards with eight nominations including Best Picture Drama, Best Director along with Screenplay, Motion Picture for Martin McDonagh, Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy for Colin Farrell, Actor in a Supporting Role in Film for Brendan Gleeson and Barry Keoghan; and Actress in a Supporting Role in Film for Kerry Condon.

The National Board of Review announced their 2022 honorees, with top awards including Top Gun: Maverick for Best Film; Steven Spielberg for Best Director for The Fabelmans; Colin Farrell for Best Actor for The Banshees of Inisherin; and Michelle Yeoh for Best Actress for Everything Everywhere All at Once.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the feature films eligible for consideration in the Animated Feature Film, Documentary Feature Film and International Feature Film categories for the 95th Academy Awards.

Todd Fields’ Tár led the nominations for the 32nd Annual Gotham Awards with five nods including Best Feature, Best Screenplay, Best Lead Performance for Cate Blanchett and two in Best Supporting Performance for Nina Hoss and Noémie Merlant.
