    Fresh off the NYC premiere at New Directors/New Films, Dekanalog revealed the new trailer and release date for Drowning Dry (Sesės), the family drama film from Lithuanian filmmaker Laurynas Bareiša, co-produced by Academy Award-winner Matiss Kaza (Flow). The film was Lithuania’s entry in the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards.

The Mongolian film follows a man who, after enduring 14 brutal years in prison, lives in isolation with his only companions, the stray dogs he has rescued over time.     Dekanalog has acquired Drowning Dry (Sesės), the sophomore feature film by Lithuanian filmmaker Laurynas Bareiša selected as Lithuania’s official entry in the Best International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards. The haunting family drama celebrated its world premiere at this year’s Locarno Film Festival, where the film won the Best Director prize for Bareiša, and the Best Performance Award was shared by its ensemble cast.

The coming-of-age film follows two 13-year-olds who form a unique bond at a local modeling school, where the promise of a better life pushes girls to violate their bodies in increasingly extreme ways.

    Artistic Director Giona A. Nazzaro unveiled the official selections for the 77th Locarno Film Festival described as “bold, innovative, and vibrant as ever” competition titles alongside non-competitive sections. In addition, the Excellence Award Davide Campari, given to film personalities with extraordinary careers, will this year go to French actor-directors Mélanie Laurent and Guillaume Canet.
