SXSW award-winning documentary Finding Yingying directed by Jiayan “Jenny” Shi will open nationwide in virtual cinema starting on December 11th. The documentary follows a Chinese family’s search to find their missing daughter in the United States.

BendFilm Festival announced the 27 films and filmmakers awarded jury prizes and more than $12,000 at the 17th Annual Festival with the top prize – Best of Show going to Warrior Women directed by Christina D. King and Elizabeth A. Castle. Other winners include Best Narrative Feature going to Freeland directed by Mario Furlon, Kate McLean; and Best Documentary Feature went to Sapelo directed by Nick Brandestini. Sapela also won the awards for Best Directing along with Special Jury Award for Documentary Cinematography for Nick Brandestini.

The 2020 Milwaukee Film Festival runs all-virtual from October 15 – 29, featuring 197 film titles. Opening the festival is “I Used to Go Here” directed by Kris Rey, featuring Gillian Jacobs and Jemaine Clement, a heartfelt crowd-pleaser about a 30-something writer who should be celebrating her success, but with all of her friends getting married and having kids, she feels like she’s missing out.

Heartland Film announced the lineup of 76 independent feature films showcased in the 29th Heartland International Film Festival (HIFF29) running via hybrid model of drive-in and virtual events, from October 8 to 18.

The South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Conference and Festivals which was cancelled by the City of Austin due to concerns surrounding Covid-19, announced the 2020 Jury and Special Award winners of the 27th SXSW Film Festival. The Grand Jury Prize for Best Film went to Shithouse directed by Cooper Raiff and An Elephant in the Room directed by Katrine Philp won for Best Documentaray.

Judd Apatow’s The King of Staten Island, starring Pete Davidson will open the 2020 South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Conference and Festivals. In total, SXSW selected 102 features and episodics for the 27th edition of the SXSW Film Festival, running March 13 to 22, 2020 in Austin, Texas.
