Good Night Oppy took home five trophies at the 7th Annual Critics Choice Documentary Awards including the top award of the evening, winning Gold for Best Documentary Feature. The film’s other awards went to were Ryan White for Best Director, Best Score for Blake Neely, as well as Best Narration (written by Helen Kearns and Ryan White, performed by Angela Bassett), and Best Science/Nature Documentary.

Sara Dosa’s Fire of Love leads the nominations for the 38th annual International Documentary Association (IDA)Documentary Awards, earning 5 nods including Best Feature Documentary, Best Director, Best Editing, Best Cinematography and Best Writing.

Sara Dosa’s Fire of Love and Alex Pritz’ The Territory lead the nominees for the 16th Cinema Eye Honors Annual Awards celebrating outstanding artistry and craft in nonfiction filmmaking, with seven nominations each, tying the record for most Cinema Eye nominations in a single year. Shaunak Sen’s Cannes-winning feature, All That Breathes, received six nominations, and Laura Poitras’ All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, winner of the Golden Lion at Venice, received four.

After two years of online and hybrid festivals, the 10th edition of CUFF.Docs Documentary Film Festival will return to an exclusively in-cinema experience, showcasing 15 features, 10 shorts, and filmmakers in attendance at Globe Cinema from November 23-27, 2022.

Fire of Love leads the nominations for the 7th Annual Critics Choice Documentary Awards (CCDA) with seven nods, including for Best Documentary Feature, Sara Dosa for Best Director, Best Editing, Best Score, Best Narration, Best Archival Documentary, and Best Science/Nature Documentary.

Last year it was about sex, and this year’s Zurich Film Festival hashtag section screens films under the title #MyReligion dealing with questions of faith, euphoria and modern deities. The “Hashtag” section showcases a hot topic that is also trending on social media.

Presented by Alec Baldwin, the HamptonsFilm SummerDocs series returns for its fourteenth year, with the series kicking off with Fire of Love, directed by Sara Dosa, on Saturday, June 25. Navalny, directed by Daniel Roher, screens on July 23 and the series concludes with Nothing Lasts Forever, directed by Jason Kohn, on August 12.

Rooftop Films announced the short film slate for this year’s 2022 Rooftop Films Summer Series including Opening and Closing Night short film programs, their annual New York Non-Fiction screening featuring a live performance by the Freedom Dabka Group, short films to play before live musical performances at Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage in Central Park, a Cemetery Shorts program in historic Green-Wood Cemetery, a program of twisted romantic tales, and free screenings of short animation, thrillers and documentaries throughout the city.
