The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the three hundred twenty-one feature films eligible for the 2023 Academy Awards®. There are 265 feature films eligible for consideration in the Best Picture category, which has additional eligibility requirements beyond those for general entry.
Nominations were revealed today for the film and television categories of the 2024 Film Independent Spirit Awards with American Fiction, May December and Past Lives leading the film nominations with five each.
Blaga’s Lessons by Bulgarian director Stephan Komandarev was awarded the Grand Prix – Crystal Globe at the 57th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The social drama about an elderly woman forced to abandon her moral principles after losing all her savings also earned lead actress Eli Skorcheva the Best Actress Award.
The world premiere of Silent Roar, the debut feature from Scottish writer and director, Johnny Barrington will open the 2023 Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) taking place from August 18 – 23, 2023. The Festival will close with the UK premiere of Fremont, directed by BAFTA-nominated director Babak Jalali (whose debut Frontier Blues played EIFF in 2010).
New films by Pascal Plante, Stephan Komandarev, Tinatin Kajrishvili, Babak Jalali will compete alongside Ernst De Geer, Itsaso Arana and Cyril Aris in the Crystal Globe Competition at the 2023 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. Actress Patricia Clarkson and Irish actor Barry Ward are among the Jury that will select the winning films.
The 49th Seattle International Film Festival came to a close with the award ceremony and Dancing Queen directed by Aurora Gossé won the Golden Space Needle Audience Award – Best Film, and 26.2 to Life directed by Christine Yoo won for Best Documentary.
The 49th Seattle International Film Festival, taking place held May 11-21, 2023, will screen 264 films representing 74 countries, including 94 narrative features, 45 documentaries, four archival films, two secret screenings, and 125 short films.

South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Conference and Festivals announced the second wave of the 2023 Film & TV Festival Lineup, including all Visions, Global, 24 Beats, and Festival Favorites plus numerous additions to Headliners, TV Premieres, Narrative and Documentary Spotlight, and other sections. The Festival also announced that Janine Nabers and Donald Glover’s Swarm and Lee Sung Jin’s Beef will be the Opening and Closing Night TV premieres.
Sundance Film Festival unveiled the 99 feature-length films representing 23 countries at the 2023 festival set to take place January 19–29, 2023, in person in Park City, Salt Lake City, and the Sundance Resort, along with a selection of films available online across the country January 24–29, 2023.
