
The 67th BFI London Film Festival (LFF) taking place October 4 – 15, unveiled the full program line-up featuring films from filmmakers Martin Scorsese, Yorgos Lanthimos, Sally El Hosaini, Jonathan Glazer, Steve McQueen, Quentin Dupieux and more.

New York Film Festival unveiled the films in the Spotlight section for the upcoming 61st edition of the festival taking place September 29 – October 15, 2023. World premieres in the Spotlight section are Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie’s genre-defying series The Curse starring Emma Stone; and Garth Davis’s superbly rendered science-fiction drama Foe, starring Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal.

20,000 Species of Bees directed by Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren won the Outstanding First Feature award at the 47th Frameline, the San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival. In the film, an eight-year-old child struggles with the fact that people keep addressing her in confusing ways. Frameline presents the annual juried Outstanding First Feature Award to a notable narrative feature from an emerging voice in LGBTQ+ cinema.

DocLands Documentary Film Festival 2023 came to a close on Sunday, and the audience selected Immediate Family, Denny Tedesco’s follow-up to his acclaimed documentary The Wrecking Crew, as winner of the DocLands Audience Choice Award. Immediate Family chronicles the journey of a group of close friends who became the premiere studio band for the musical icons of the ‘70s and beyond, giving us a backstage tour of rock history.

Frameline rolled out the full program lineup for the 47th San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival (Frameline47) emphasizing the interplay between past and present — both in terms of queer cinema history and the collective history of the LGBTQ+ community at large.

Nantucket Film Festival unveiled the first selection of films for the 28th annual edition, which will run from June 21-26, 2023 at the Dreamland Theater, the ‘Sconset Casino, and the White Heron Theatre.

DocLands Documentary Film Festival 2023 taking place Wednesday, May 10 through Sunday, May 14, announced the full lineup of in-theatre programming and in-person filmmaker conversations at the Smith Rafael Film Center in downtown San Rafael.

Sundance Film Festival awarded the 2023 Grand Jury Prizes to A Thousand and One for U.S. Dramatic, Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project for U.S. Documentary, Scrapper for World Cinema Dramatic, and The Eternal Memory for World Cinema Documentary. The NEXT Innovator Award was awarded to KOKOMO CITY.

SFFILM awarded five documentary films 2019 SFFILMDocumentary Film Fund awards totaling $125,000, which support feature-length documentaries in post-production. Lea Golb’s Apolonia, Apolonia, Joe Brewster and Michèle Stephenson’s Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project, Landon Van Soest’s Light Darkness Light, David Osit’s Mayor, and CJ Hunt’s Neutral Ground were each awarded funding that will help push each project towards completion.
