
BAFTA announced the full set of longlists for 24 categories including Best Film, Cinematography, Casting, Documentary, Film Not in the English Language, the four performance categories for the 2023 EE BAFTA Film Awards.

Philadelphia Film Critics Circle also named Everything Everywhere All at Once the Best Film of 2022 at its sixth annual year-end awards. The film also snagged the honors of Best Director and Best Script for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, Best Supporting Actor fpr Ke Huy Yuan and Best Breakthrough Performance for Stephanie Hsu.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the feature films eligible for consideration in the Animated Feature Film, Documentary Feature Film and International Feature Film categories for the 95th Academy Awards.

Now in its 35th year, the 2022 AFI European Union Film Showcase, taking place December 1–20 at the American Film Institute’s historic theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland highlights 56 films representing all 27 EU member states. Of the Official Selections, 50% are directed or co-directed by women.

The European Film Academy revealed the nominees of the main categories of the 35th European Film Awards. Films nominated for European Film include Alcarràs directed by Carla Simón, Close directed by Lukas Dhont, Corsage directed by Marie Kreutzer, Holy Spider directed by Ali Abbasi, and Triangle of Sadness directed by Ruben Östlund.

Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery opens the line-up for the 9th annual Miami Film Festival GEMS taking place November 3-10. GEMS 2022 festival will feature two Centerpiece Screenings of the ensemble drama Women Talking and Brendan Fraser drama The Whale, and close with Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans.

Ali Abbasi’s Holy Spider has been selected as Denmark’s contender in the International Feature Film category for the 2023 Academy Awards. The film world premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival where Zar Amir Ebrahimi won the Best Actress award for her performance.

The Spanish black comedy film La Pietà directed by Eduardo Casanova is the winner of the top prize in the Main Competition Feature section at the 2022 Fantastic Fest. The film stars Ángela Molina and Manel Llunell as Libertad and Mateo in a mother-son toxic relationship.

The 2022 Hamptons International Festival (HIFF) unveiled the full slate of films including the Closing Night presentation of the New York premiere of SR., directed by Chris Smith, and the Centerpiece screening of Sarah Polley’s Women Talking. The 30th edition of the festival will feature a lineup of films that are 54% female-directed and represent 34 countries from around the world.
