Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, celebrated in the documentary Jimmy Carter Rock & Roll President, passed away peacefully at his home in Plains, Georgia, on Sunday, 29th December 2024. He was 100.

During his political career and following his presidency, the 39th President of the United States formed lifelong bonds with artists Willie Nelson, the Allman Brothers, Rosanne Cash, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, Nile Rodgers, and many, many others. Director Mary Wharton’s engaging film explores how President Carter’s deep love of all forms of music has been both a feature and an asset for his storied life and career.

Florida Film Festival Unveils 2020 Lineup of 177 Films
Surviving Supercon – Directed by Steven Shea Florida Film Festival, which was originally scheduled for April, but postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will now take place August 7-20, 2020, in Maitland and Winter Park, Florida. This year’s 29th edition of the festival will screen 177 films representing 37 countries, kicking off with the World Premiere of Surviving Supercon, directed by Steven Shea.

CNN Acquires Documentary JIMMY CARTER ROCK & ROLL PRESIDENT

The documentary was created by the award-winning director Mary Wharton, producer Chris Farrell, and writer Bill Flanagan. Originally set to open the 19th annual Tribeca Film Festival in April, the feature will now be the closing film for AFI DOCS film festival on June 21st.

AFI DOCS Unveils Diverse Documentary Lineup for 2020 Online Festival

The lineup features 59 films from 11 countries and 12 virtual World Premieres, with 61% of the films directed by women, 25% by POC directors and 14% by LGBTQ directors.

It will set the stage for a festival featuring works that celebrate the power of change through art, politics and community. The 2020 Tribeca Film Festival will run April 15-26.
