Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains won Best Picture, Cinematography and Debut Feature at this year’s International Cinephile Society Awards given annually by the International Cinephile Society, an online organization of professional film critics and journalists worldwide.
Rose Glass’ dramatic horror Saint Maud leads the nominations for the 41st annual London Critics’ Circle Film Awards with 8 nominations, including Film, Director, Screenwriter, Actress (Morfydd Clark) and Supporting Actress (Jennifer Ehle). In addition, the film is nominated for British/Irish Film of the Year, and Clark is nominated for British/Irish Actress, a body-of-work award that includes her appearance in Eternal Beauty.
The National Society Of Film Critics (NSFC) announced their 2020 winners, naming Nomadland the Best Picture of 2020, along with Best Director for Chloé Zhao, Best Actress for Frances McDormand and Best Cinematography for Joshua James Richards.
The Florida Film Critics Circle awarded its 2020 Best Picture prize to First Cow, Kelly Reichardt’s adaptation of Jonathan Raymond’s The Half Life. Los Fuertes, the Chilean drama about young men in love, won the Best Foreign Film category; and You Don’t Nomi, about the filming of the 1995 camp classic Showgirls, won Best Documentary.
Former President Barack Obama revealed his favorite movies of 2020 which include Nomadland, Bacurau, Boys State, Martin Eden and, Crip Camp, the documentary produced by the Obamas’ company Higher Ground.
The Chicago Film Critics Association (CFCA) announced the nominees for their top film honors of 2020 with Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland leading the field with seven total nominations. Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, Kelly Reichardt’s First Cow and Charlie Kaufman’s I’m Thinking of Ending Things each earned six nominations, while Mank and Promising Young Woman are each recognized with five. Chadwick Boseman posthumously earns dual acting nominations for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Da 5 Bloods.
Lovers Rock directed by BFI Fellow Steve Mc Queen, has been added to the lineup of this year’s BFI London Film Festival. Lovers Rock is one of five films from Steve Mc Queen’s Small Axe anthology alongside the festival’s Opening film Mangrove. The film will screen on Sunday October 18th across two screenings at BFI Southbank as part of the LFF’s Love strand.

Steve McQueen’s Lovers Rock will make its World Premiere as the Opening Night film of the 58th New York Film Festival. Lovers Rock is part of the Small Axe anthology, which comprises five original films by Academy Award, BAFTA, and Golden Globe-winning filmmaker Steve McQueen (Hunger, 12 Years A Slave), which will premiere on BBC One later this year and air on Amazon Prime Video in the US.
