The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) announced the thirty-three films and series receiving nominations for the 29th Annual IFP Gotham Awards along with Gotham Tributes for actors Laura Dern and Sam Rockwell, director Ava DuVernay, and the Gotham Industry Tribute to Glen Basner.
Awkwafina (The Farewell), Taron Egerton (Rocketman), Florence Pugh (Midsommar), and Taylor Russell (Waves) will receive the Virtuosos Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, an honor created to recognize a select group of talent whose noteworthy performances in film have elevated them into the national cinematic dialogue. The tribute will take place on Saturday, January 18th at the historic Arlington Theatre during the 35th Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Scary Movies XII, the 12th edition of New York City’s top horror festival returns this Summer to Film at Lincoln Center from August 16 to 21.The festival kicks off with the New York premiere of Dan Berk and Robert Olsen’s darkly funny home invasion thriller Villains, a twist on the genre that stars Maika Monroe and Bill Skarsgård as outlaw lovers seeking refuge in a seemingly isolated house that turns out to be anything but deserted.
