Indie Memphis Film Festival celebrates its 25th Anniversary from October 19th through 24th on the ground in Memphis, as well as virtually, with an intensely varied international lineup of new films, most of which with filmmakers in-person, as well as revival screenings that celebrate Memphis’ rich cultural history, and incredible restorations of film classics.

Disney released the official trailer for Mija, the award-winning feature documentary debut from director Isabel Castro featuring Doris Muñoz and Jacks Haupt, two daughters of undocumented immigrants from Mexico who are both navigating their careers in the music industry. Seeking to provide for their families while achieving their dreams, Doris and Jacks bond over the ever-present guilt of being the first American-born members of their undocumented families and the financial risks of pursuing their dreams. For them, the pressure of success is heightened due to their families’ hope for green cards and reunification.

The Austin-based 2022 Cine Las Americas International Film Festival (CLAIFF) taking place June 8-12, announced the lineup of films and videos from Latin America (North, Central, South America, and the Caribbean) and the Iberian Peninsula, for the hybrid edition, featuring a big return to in-theater screenings after a two-year pause.

Rooftop Films announced the lineup for the 2022 annual Rooftop Films Summer Series, and in keeping with their annual tradition, the Summer Series will open with a collection of exciting new short films on Friday, May 20th at Green-Wood Cemetery, along with a performance from New York Liberty’s own Timeless Torches, NYC’s favorite over-40 dance group, who are featured in Quitting Time, a short film that will play that evening.

The 65th annual San Francisco International Film Festival will make its return to theaters in person, featuring more than 130 films from 56 countries, including 16 World and 10 North American premieres. The Festival will also celebrate cinematic icon Michelle Yeoh with a special tribute to be presented by critically acclaimed actor Sandra Oh. The 2022 Festival will run April 21–May 1.

The 46th annual Atlanta Film Festival + Creative Conference (ATLFF) taking place Thursday, April 21 through Sunday, May 1, 2022 at multiple venues in Atlanta and virtually revealed the lineup highlighted by the Opening Night presentation of “892” and Closing Night film “Mija”.

The 2022 Sundance Film Festival set to take place January 20–30, 2022, announced the films selected in the Feature Film, Indie Episodic, and New Frontier categories. The full slate of works announced includes 82 feature-length films representing 28 countries, and 39 of 92 (42%) feature film directors are first-time feature filmmakers.
