
The 40th Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF), set to take place February 4 to 15, 2025, announced the lineup of films from 60 countries.

Based on director Kyle Hausmann-Stokes’ short film Merit x Zoe, My Dead Friend Zoe marks the feature directorial debut of the U.S. Army veteran turned filmmaker. The story centers on a U.S. Army Afghanistan veteran who, after returning from service, begins to hallucinate her dead best friend from the Army.

Wrapping up on October 20th, the 25th edition of the Woodstock Film Festival announced the winners for this year’s jury award. My Dead Friend Zoe, directed by Kyle Hausmann Stokes won the Gigantic Pictures Award For Best Feature Narrative, along with the Haskell Wexler Award For Best Cinematography, and an Honorable Mention for the Best Narrative Editing Award.

Edward Berger’s ‘Conclave’ took the top prize of the MVFF Overall Audience Favorite at 47th Mill Valley Film Festival which wrapped after screening 132 films.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Woodstock Film Festival will kick off on opening night with Men of War by Billy Corben and Jen Gatien, Blitz directed by Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen will screen as centerpiece film, and A Real Pain directed by Jesse Eisenberg as closing night film.

Legion M’s critically acclaimed dark comedy film My Dead Friend Zoe which won SXSW Film Festival’s Audience Award this year has been acquired by Briarcliff Entertainment for release later this year. The film is the directorial debut of Kyle Hausmann-Stokes, a former U.S. Army infantry paratrooper and Iraq War Bronze Star veteran.

Dev Patel’s Monkey Man is the winner of the Audience Award in the star-studded Headliners at the 31st South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Film & TV Festival.

The Premiere of the the Netflix series 3 Body Problem created, executive produced and written by Emmy Award winners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss and Emmy Award nominee Alexander Woo will open the 31st edition of the SXSW Film & TV Festival taking place March 8-16, 2024.
