Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) announced the inaugural MIFF Awards recipients with Neptune Frost by Anisia Uzeyman and Saul Williams winning the $140,000 Bright Horizons Award winner and the Blackmagic Design Australian Innovation Award went to Jub Clerc for direction in Sweet As. The MIFF Audience Award Winner was Greenhouse by Joost directed by Bruce Permezel and Rhian Skirving.

Rooftop Films announced the lineup for the 2022 annual Rooftop Films Summer Series, and in keeping with their annual tradition, the Summer Series will open with a collection of exciting new short films on Friday, May 20th at Green-Wood Cemetery, along with a performance from New York Liberty’s own Timeless Torches, NYC’s favorite over-40 dance group, who are featured in Quitting Time, a short film that will play that evening.

The 65th annual San Francisco International Film Festival will make its return to theaters in person, featuring more than 130 films from 56 countries, including 16 World and 10 North American premieres. The Festival will also celebrate cinematic icon Michelle Yeoh with a special tribute to be presented by critically acclaimed actor Sandra Oh. The 2022 Festival will run April 21–May 1.

The 22nd annual Boston Underground Film Festival returns to Harvard Square at the Brattle Theatre from March 23rd through the 27th, 2022 marking the first physical festival since 2019.

The 2022 Sundance Film Festival set to take place January 20–30, 2022, announced the films selected in the Feature Film, Indie Episodic, and New Frontier categories. The full slate of works announced includes 82 feature-length films representing 28 countries, and 39 of 92 (42%) feature film directors are first-time feature filmmakers.
