The 27th annual St. Louis Jewish Film Festival will be held virtually this spring, March 6 – 13, presenting a selection of documentary and feature films from around the world. While all films depict a piece of the Jewish experience, the themes are universal and are meant to appeal to all, regardless of faith. In addition to 13 compelling films, the Festival offers discussions with filmmakers and others associated with the films.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the feature films eligible for consideration in the Animated Feature Film, Documentary Feature and International Feature Film categories for the 94th Academy Awards®.
Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Summer of Soul lead the nominations for the 37th Annual IDA Documentary Awards with four nominations, followed by Jessica Beshir with Faya Dayi and Nicholas Bruckman with Not Going Quietly each with three nominations.

Rooftop Films Summer Series returns with more than 40 outdoor screenings featuring new independent feature films, short film programs, from June 17th through mid-September. Keeping with a 25-year long tradition, the Summer Series will open with a collection of new short films on Thursday, June 17th, at Green-Wood Cemetery.
Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal, The Night of) will receive this year’s Excellence in Acting Award at the Provincetown International Film Festival (PIFF). His latest film, Mogul Mowgli, which he co-wrote, produced and stars in, will be screened during the festival. The film follows the story of a British Pakistani rapper who, on the cusp of his first world tour, is struck down by an illness that forces him to face his past, his family, and the uncertainty of his legacy. Ahmed will be honored in a virtual conversation during the festival. Strand Releasing will open the film in theaters on September 3.
Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival (MSPIFF) announced the complete line-up of 180+ films in the upcoming 40th edition running Thursday, May 13 through Sunday, May 23 as a hybrid festival.

South by Southwest (SXSW) announced the 2021 Jury and Special Award winners of the 28th SXSW Film Festival. The Fallout directed by Megan Park won the Grand Jury Award for Narrative Feature and Lily Topples the World directed by Jeremy Workman won for Documentary Feature.
