Amazon revealed the official trailer for One Night In Miami directed by Regina King and based on the stage play “One Night In Miami…” by Kemp Powers. The film starring Kingsley Ben-Adir, Eli Goree, Aldis Hodge, Leslie Odom Jr., Joaquina Kalukango, Nicolette Robinson with Beau Bridges and Lance Reddick, opens in select theaters December 25th, 2020 and on Prime Video January 15th, 2021.
The 43rd Mill Valley Film Festival (MVFF43) and the DocLands Documentary Film Festival (which ran in tandem this year) concluded on October 18th after 11 days of virtual and drive-in screenings, panels, and special events.
AFI FEST 2020 has added a Centerpiece Drive-in screening of One Night in Miami… directed by Academy Award® winner Regina King, to this year’s festival line-up. The Amazon Original film will screen at the Rose Bowl on Monday, October 19. The film takes place over one night with icons Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Sam Cooke and Jim Brown examining the civil rights movement. Written by Olivier-nominated Kemp Powers, based off his 2013 stage play, One Night in Miami… stars Kingsley Ben-Adir, Eli Goree, Aldis Hodge and Leslie Odom Jr.
The 33rd Annual Virginia Film Festival will present a program of more than 50 films, conversations, and special events that will include a series of virtual conversations and a series of Drive-In Movies presented in two safe and socially-distanced settings.
This year 23rd annual SCAD Savannah Film Festival running as an all-virtual experience October 24 – 31, will screen 148 films, including 20 narrative films, 17 documentary films and 111 shorts, with 14 world premieres, four U.S. premieres and four North American premieres.
Normally held in late September, Aspen Filmfest moves to October with some of the most buzzed films of the season, including the Frances McDormand “Nomadland,” the new documentary from Oscar-winning Colorado filmmaker Bryan Fogel “The Dissident” and a drive-in screening of the Spike Lee/David Byrne concert film “American Utopia.”
Hamptons International Festival (HIFF), has added new films to the 2020 lineup including the Spotlight section, as well as Signature Programs including Views From Long Island; Air, Land & Sea; and Compassion, Justice & Animal Rights. The 28th Annual Festival will run October 8 – 14, 2020 with both Virtual & Drive-In screenings.
Regina King’s highly anticipated directorial debut One Night in Miami will have its UK premiere at this year’s BFI London Film Festival on Sunday October 11th. The 16th Zurich Film Festival confirmed twelve films including the spy thriller The Courier, the erotic drama Passion Simple and Misbehaviour starring Keira Knightley, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, for its gala section. The festival presents auteur films with audience appeal in its gala section.
