
The 24th Provincetown International Film Festival (PIFF), running June 15 – 19, 2022 in Provincetown, MA, announced its lineup of narrative, documentary, and short films, as well as festival honorees.

AFI FEST unveiled the full lineup for this year’s festival including Parallel Mothers, written and directed by Academy Award® winner Pedro Almodóvar, which will screen as a Red Carpet Premiere at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre on Saturday, November 13.

Kurosawa Kiyoshi’s wartime period drama Wife of a Spy (Japan) was the biggest winner of the night at the 15th Asian Film Awards (AFA15) taking the Best Film Award, the Best Actress Award (Aoi Yu) and the Best Costume Design Award (Koketsu Haruki).

The Eyes of Tammy Faye directed by Michael Showalter will open and Marvel Studios’ Eternals will close the sixteenth Rome Film Fest taking place October 14 – 24, 2021. Rome Film Fest will also celebrate Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The feature-film adaptation of the Tony Award–winning musical Dear Evan Hansen is the Opening Night Gala Presentation at the 46th Toronto International Film Festival. Directed by Stephen Chbosky, Dear Evan Hansen is the story of a high-school senior with a debilitating anxiety disorder whose private letter to himself as part of a therapy exercise lands in the hands of a fellow classmate, with tragic consequences. The incident propels Evan on a journey of self-discovery that leads him toward belonging and acceptance, not only among the people who love him, but also by Evan himself. Starring Tony winner Ben Platt as Evan, along with Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Kaitlyn Dever, Amandla Stenberg, and Nik Dodani, Dear Evan Hansen features songs from the original Broadway sensation.

In a statement released today, the Berlin International Film Festival announced that due to technical difficulties encountered during post-production, Yi miao zhong (One Second) by Zhang Yimou unfortunately will not be presented on February 15 in the scope of the Competition section of the Berlinale. The competition will thus feature a total of 16 films vying for the coveted Bear awards.
